  2. Dr. Hagelstein isn't really focusing his comments on BrillouinEnergy's CECR or Neutron Synthesis reactions in particular. He is doing a very good job showing how two of the most perplexing parts of the physics could work.
First, Neutron synthsis requires 784,000 eV localized to an atom of Hydrogen, in a solid metal. That's very hard to do. But Hagelstein's lossy spin boson model helps show how. Brillouin explains it by way of the Heisenberg uncertainty principle. But it never hurts to have more than one explanation.

Second, the fact that nuclear energy can be emitted as heat rather than gamma rays is very unexpected and most plasma or particle physicists deny that it is possible. It seems too good to be true. When an atom has to be rid of 22MeV, there aren't a lot of ways to dispose of that other than a gamma ray. It doesn't take many gamma rays to make a lethal environment for humans, electronics, and metals, which is what makes it so hard to engineer nuclear facilities.
Hagelstein shows how those large quanta can have their energy distributed among thousands of atoms in a concert effect, releasing the energy as heat but without dangerous radiation.
He supports his theory by experiments with X-ray emissions in various experiments as well as the evidence from cold fusion experiments.

Another explanation for the Gamma free power. Recent work inspired by problems making high power LED lighting, which is often 20% less bright than expected due to photon absorption in a strong electric field, shows how the Auger effect works. It could also be keeping Gamma rays from being emitted. Turns out a big electric field oriented in line with the photon emission can suppress it-similar to what happens in neutron synthesis.

    1. I would love to read your comparison of the Hagelstein explanation and Dave Hudsons ORME transformations....
